Laser – What You Should Know

At Be You Medical, we don’t just like what we do; we are passionate about it. Our certified professionals offer only the best beauty-enhancing treatments. Dr. Selene and the team are leaders in cosmetic procedures; you can expect natural-looking results that are refined and beautiful. Your experience with us will be positive and affirming from start to finish because your satisfaction is our number one priority.

We provide many cosmetic treatments at our four locations, such as injectables, lasers, body sculpting, and Botox. The Rocklin, Sacramento, Alamo, and Grass Valley locations boast tranquil spa-like atmospheres. Botox can soften furrows and erase fine lines around the eyes and forehead for long-lasting youthful results. Fillers and Botox are two popular minimally invasive procedures that may be used to treat the unavoidable aging process with minimal discomfort. Fillers can help you restore volume loss to facial features and define curves in your face. Injectables can also reduce double chins, soften cellulite dimples, and diminish leg vein markings. Lasers can enhance your natural skin tone and improve the results seen from Botox and filler treatments. At Be You Medical, we provide Botox, laser, injectable, and body sculpting solutions to help you achieve your desired look. Whether you want to lose fat or tone up, make an appointment with us today.

Cosmetic Laser Treatment

If you’re considering cosmetic laser treatment, you probably have many questions. What is it? How does it work? What are the risks and side effects? Is it permanent? All these questions are important so you can make an informed decision about whether or not cosmetic laser treatment is right for you.

Cosmetic laser treatment uses lasers to improve the appearance of the skin. It can treat various conditions, including wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, sun damage, and more.

Some types of laser treatment offered by Be You Medical include:

Clear + Brilliant

Clear + Brilliant is a laser treatment that helps fight the effects of aging. We call this laser the “Hollywood Facial” because it has little to no downtime and gives the skin’s surface a nice glow. It’s perfect for someone in their 20s and 30s who want to freshen up their skin.

Sublative

Sublative is a laser treatment that can resurface the skin with minimal downtime. It is unique because it uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity.

IPL

IPL is a laser treatment that can improve the appearance of sun damage and red veins on the face. It is unique because it uses intense pulsed light to target specific areas of the skin.

Vivace

Vivace is a unique laser treatment that uses micro-needling and radio frequency technology to stimulate collagen production and improve the skin’s overall appearance. Minimal to no downtime but does require multiple treatments to achieve optimal results.

CO2

A CO2 laser treatment is a one-stop shop to treat wrinkles, sun damage, and acne scars and improve tone and texture. This is the most aggressive laser we have with the most downtime. Plan on 7-10 days of downtime with the CO2 laser.

Profound

Profound is a laser treatment for skin tightening in the lower face, neck, and body. It is unique because it uses radiofrequency energy and micro-needling to stimulate collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. This procedure requires 7-10 days of downtime. Optimal results are seen between 6 and 12 months but can last up to five years.

Intima

Intima is a laser treatment that uses controlled CO2 energy to stimulate collagen in the inner and outer vagina. It can help with lubrication and urinary incontinence and improve the outer appearance of the vagina.

Miradry

Miradry is a laser treatment that targets sweat and odor glands in the armpits. It is unique because it uses electromagnetic energy to target specific areas of the skin. Miradry will aid in reducing sweat and odor by up to 80%. This laser provides immediate results and may require a second treatment.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a laser treatment that uses ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin. It is specifically used to improve the appearance of sagging skin on the jowls, neck, eyebrows, chin, and decollete.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a laser treatment that targets unwanted hair follicles. It is unique because it uses pulsed light to target specific areas of the skin. Laser hair removal will aid in reducing unwanted hair growth.

How does cosmetic laser treatment work?

Lasers emit short pulses of light absorbed by the pigment in the skin. The light energy from the laser converts to heat, which destroys the pigment cells. As the treated area heals, the pigment cells are replaced with new skin cells, resulting in a more evenly toned complexion.

What are the risks and side effects of cosmetic laser treatment?

Most people experience mild discomfort during cosmetic laser treatment, though some may experience swelling and redness. These side effects usually resolve within a few days. More serious side effects are rare but can include burns, scars, and changes in skin color.

It’s important to note that cosmetic laser treatment is not permanent. The results typically last for 6 to 12 months maintenance is required.

Treatment of Medical Conditions

Laser treatment can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including wrinkles, age spots, saggy skin, and acne scars. Laser treatments can help reduce wrinkles by stimulating collagen production and improving skin elasticity. Age spots are common and are caused by sun damage. Laser treatment can help to fade age spots by targeting the pigment cells. Acne scars are common in people who have had acne. Laser treatments can help improve the appearance of acne scars by stimulating collagen production and improving skin tone and texture. Sun damage is a common cause of premature aging. Laser treatments can help improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin by stimulating collagen production and skin tone.

Good for All Skin Types

Laser treatment can be performed on all skin types. There are many different skin types, such as dry skin, oily skin, normal skin, light skin, dark skin, and sensitive skin. Each type of skin will respond differently to laser treatment. There are different lasers for each skin type; talk to your medical professional to determine which laser can address your concerns and skin type.

Treatment Time

Treatment sessions are typically short, lasting only 30 minutes. For bigger procedures like the CO2 and Profound, plan on more than an hour of treatment time. Treatment times could vary based on the condition and the treatment area’s size.

It’s Non-Invasive

There is typically minimal to mild downtime associated with laser treatment, meaning you can resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure. For bigger procedures like CO2 and Profound, plan for 5-7 days of downtime. We recommend doing a laser treatment 8-6 weeks before an event.

Minimal Side Effects

Side effects from laser treatment are usually mild and temporary and may include redness, skin irritation, swelling, and bruising. These side effects usually resolve within a few days. More serious side effects are rare but can include burns, scars, and changes in skin color.

Safe and Effective

Laser treatment is considered a relatively safe and effective cosmetic procedure when performed by a qualified medical professional. It is important to research the facility and practitioner performing the procedure to ensure they are properly trained and have experience performing laser treatments. Dr. Selene and her team have many years of experience in the industry.

If you’re considering having cosmetic laser treatment, you now know the basics. It’s a non-invasive procedure that uses lasers to improve the appearance of the skin, can be used for permanent hair removal, and can be used to treat various conditions. Some risks and side effects are associated with the procedure, but they are usually mild and temporary. Keep in mind that results from cosmetic laser treatment are not permanent; maintenance will be necessary to achieve desired results.
