Lip fillers are one of the mainstays of our practice. Everybody loves a little lip plump without looking like a freak. I’ve heard more than thousands of times, “I don’t want to look weird. I don’t want to look like a duck. I don’t want it to be crazy obvious. I want hydrated plumpy lips that aren’t wrinkled and deflated and have definition.” We get it! Everybody has different goals regarding their lip filler- some want big, bold, and some subtle and refreshed. The important thing before your appointment is to know what your needs are and what your expectations are.

There are some things we can’t do. 

• We cannot make your mouth wider. 
• We cannot significantly decrease the length between your nose and lip (this requires surgical interventions). 
• We cannot make you look like your filtered girlfriend’s lips with different anatomy than you. 
• The same goes for if you bring a picture of a movie star who has had lip implants, collagen regeneration, and a lip lift topped off with a filter.

So remember, this is customized for you. Come in with reasonable expectations. The lip filler can only do what it can with one-fifth of a teaspoon of hyaluronic acid gel. It’s a beautiful and fantastic treatment, but you do need to have the right expectations and embrace your anatomy and the beauty that is uniquely you.
