Most patients want to know how long their filler will last. It feels like the filler may not last as long as the manufacturer says because the studies they do where they figure out duration are done with multiple syringes of fillers. For example, Juvéderm Voluma can last two years; people received 8+ syringes of filler in the studies. With that amount of initial investment, it will last for a while.
Many factors determine how long your filler will last.
How long have you been doing it?
How deflated is the area you are treating?
How much product is used per area treated?
Are you taking care of your filler by hydrating?
Do you sleeping on your face or causing other trauma to the areas where fillers are placed?
Do you work out a lot and metabolize all the other things fast, like, proteins such as Botox?
We say fillers can last from 6 months to years. It depends on the type of filler being used, the amount of volume loss (meaning the more volume loss that is present, the more filler will be needed), tissue quality (especially for lips), and the area being treated (lips require less than cheeks).
Lips, for example, will take multiple visits to achieve the best results. Your first visit will be to hydrate, and the second is to volumize. After that, most people will visit for maintenance yearly—depending on your goal. Your provider will work with you to develop a long-term plan to help maintain your filler to help keep your investment rather than letting it go away and start all over.
If you’re unsure where to start, we offer consultations to meet with a BYM provider or team member to discuss your goals and provide a plan to get you there. We’ll discuss your concerns, treatment options, skincare, timelines, and cost. Remember that everyone’s aesthetic journey is different, and we want to guide you through the process so you are prepared and educated on what it will take to reach your goals. You can book an in-person at our Rocklin clinic or a virtual consultation. We also have a contact-free consultation that is complimentary, where you fill out a patient intake form and send us photos, and within 48 hours, we email your treatment plan. Note that a $250 charge for in-person and virtual consultations will go toward your services.
