Laser Resurfacing
One Laser. Three Depths. You Choose How Much Downtime You Can Take.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which one do I need?
That's what the consultation is for. Short version: if your skin looks tired, start with NanoLaserPeel. If you're fighting fine lines and sun spots, MicroLaserPeel. If you're treating scars or want firmer skin, ProFractional. Most people are choosing between two, not three.
How much downtime are we really talking about?
3 to 14 days. We'll give you a real number at your consultation, not a best case. If you have a hard date coming up, tell us. We'll plan backward from it or tell you to wait.
Does it hurt?
We numb you well beforehand. During treatment you'll feel heat and prickling. Afterward your skin feels hot and tight, like a strong sunburn, and that's the hardest part. It settles. You'll leave with written instructions and a way to reach us.
What do I need to do before my appointment?
Depends which one you're getting. You may need numbing cream applied ahead of time, and if you've ever had cold sores, you'll need medicine to prevent an outbreak. We'll tell you exactly what to do when we book you.
Is this the same as CO2?
Same idea, different laser. Both remove skin so your body rebuilds it. Ours is an erbium laser, which runs cooler and more precisely. That usually means faster healing at the same depth. CO2 goes further when you need it to. We own both, so we pick based on your skin and your schedule, not on which machine is open. Learn about the CO2 Laser.
Will this get rid of my acne scars?
Completely? No. A lot better? Often, yes. ProFractional is the one we use for scarring, and deep scars take more than one visit. At your consultation we'll tell you honestly how much improvement is realistic for your scars. Anyone promising you 100% is guessing.
How many treatments will I need?
More than one, for all three options. Lighter treatments build on each other, and scar work takes a series. You'll leave your consultation with a plan and a number.
How long do results last?
Months to years. NanoLaserPeel is upkeep, think of it like a haircut. MicroLaserPeel and ProFractional build new collagen, and that sticks around. You still age, and you still need sunscreen every day.
Can I get this if I have a deeper skin tone?
Yes, with care. Removing skin carries a risk of pigment changes, and that risk goes up with deeper skin tones and with depth. Often we start lighter, prep your skin first, and build up. Sometimes we recommend a different treatment entirely. We'll tell you which, and we won't take your money to find out the hard way.
Am I a good candidate for laser resurfacing?
Most people are. Skip it for now if you:
- Are pregnant
- Have taken Accutane recently
- Have an active infection or cold sore in the area
- Have a history of raised, thick scars (keloids)
Can I do this in the summer?
You can, but fall and winter are better. Healing skin plus sun is how a good result turns into a new dark spot. If you do it in summer, you have to be serious about sunscreen and shade.
I have an event coming up. How far ahead should I book?
Don't book anything the week of. Give yourself real margin. NanoLaserPeel needs the least, ProFractional needs the most. Tell us your date at the consultation and we'll work backward.
What if I can't take any time off at all?
Then say so. NanoLaserPeel is the lightest option here, and MOXI or BBL HEROic may fit your life better. A treatment you can't recover from properly isn't the right treatment.
